Here in Regina, we don’t put much stock in appearances. We know what’s real and what’s not, what’s good and what’s great. Here are some upcoming events this February that are REAL.

The Trews are one of Canada’s most hard-rocking bands. Formed in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, The Trews are as at home in the corner of a bar making drunks sway to the rhythm as they are playing theatres and arenas. That’s because, like their predecessors The Tragically Hip, they create art that transcends its roots while never forgetting them, recognizing that the truth of rock and roll is deep in those scuzzy small-town bars.

That said, you don’t HAVE to go to a dive bar to catch the Trews this February 9, when they will be playing Casino Regina with special guests Altameda. Throw on your favourite denim jacket – the holes give it character – and catch a good old fashioned rock show.

We don’t want to ruffle any feathers here, but it’s true that sex is a part of life, and even though it’s common it still carries a bit of an air of danger and, well, taboo. That’s where Taboo: The Naughty But Nice Sex Show comes in. A three-day convention with vendors, workshops and entertainment, Taboo is geared towards enhancing your life in the long-term with an open and kind approach towards sexuality. Sure, it might make you blush but that’s okay – don’t feel bad about purchasing tickets at the door and having a fun, and educational experience that you and your partner will love! WARNING: you will likely feel a bit embarrassed but that’s okay – it’s worth it. Check it out at the Conexus Arts Centre February 22-24.
