FUN-FILLED SPRING TIME FAMILY EVENTS IN REGINA

If you are travelling with your family this Spring to Regina, there are a host of events that you can all do together, both inside and outside.   Regina, also known as the Queen City, is surrounded by flat prairie and farmland, has lots of parks and green spaces, with about 300,00 trees, all planted by hand, where families can do walk-abouts, explore, hang out together and have a picnic lunch.

THE EVERYDAY KITCHEN

If you love donuts and who doesn't, definitely go to The Everyday Kitchen at 1378 Hamilton Street....all their donuts are made from their own Sourdough recipe which has been described as buttery and flavorful.  Their donuts are hand-made, small-batch craft donuts made from highest quality ingredients with no artificial ingredients or colors.  Their SOURDOUGH DONUTS are the only ones publicly sold in North America.

Advisable to go early for a good selection or order for pick-up or delivery.  It might take some time to decide which donuts you want to munch on....they have Brown Butter, Cinnamon Sugar donuts with rotating flavors, such as, Banana Salted Caramel, Key Lime and Strawberry Cheesecake!   They also have coffee and speciality drinks.

BACKYARD WILDERNESS IN BEAUTIFUL WASCANA PARK

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is one of Saskatchewan's largest family tourist attractions with more than 5 million visitors since opening in 1989.  From March 8, 2023 to May 31, 2023 at the Saskatchewan Science Centre, 2903 Powerhouse Drive in the beautiful Wascana Park is a wonderful exploratory nature event captured on film for people of all ages.

As described in their online post, the purpose is to surprise and entertain viewers with the unexpected wonders of nature that are right under our noses-----in our own backyards.  Spanning a seasonal year around a suburban home, the film displays a stunning array of unique wildlife images and behaviours-------all captured by cameras mounted inside dens, nests, and moving along the forest floor and pond  bottoms to reveal its inhabitants in rare and breath-taking intimacy.  The film runs for approximately 40 mins, is "G" rated and runs everyday.  For further information, go to the Science Centre's website.

DO A WALKABOUT AT WASCANA PARK

Wascana Park is a beautifully landscaped park right in the middle of the city which is almost 3 times larger than New York's Central Park.  After visiting the Science Centre, take a free 30 minute tour of the SASKATCHEWAN LEGISLATIVE BUILDING.  The tours occur daily.  In front of the building,  you will see the Queen Elizabeth Gardens which, in the spring, have been planted with 25,000 flowers.  Lastly, visit the WATERFOWL DISPLAY PONDS to see and feed the geese, ducks and a swan named Stella...the park provides free grain for feeding the waterfowl at this hidden gem.  And hopefully, if you have any donuts leftover from The Everyday Kitchen, have a sit-down at the enclosed ponds, munch away as your family views the baby birds, including fluffy, yellow goslings!  A great way to end your day, eating donuts with family, watching baby birds swimming around in a pond and thinking of all the suburban critters who inhabit our cities.

If you are planning to be in Regina this spring, DAYS INN, REGINA EAST is a family-friendly accommodation with affordable rates and an unbeatable location in the heart of the city.
